This painting was created in 2019. This year is the third year of college. I started to prepare for my graduation work, so I tried paintings with more concepts, depth and formal unity. In these paintings, you Being able to begin to see a more specific me. Such attempts did add weight to the work, but it was only a small step compared to the depth that would later come with the weight of life. Then came the COVID-19 epidemic at the end of the year, and the future that people expected changed its face, either urgently or slowly.
This is after listening to John Williams play the classical guitar piece "Cueca", I made a portrait of my friend. The whole painting was completed in 30 minutes without any modifications.

Creative themes and style | My works revolve around the creative concept of "The land of humanity, People on the land". The people in the painting are people in nature, and the lines, shapes, and colors are close to nature. The nature in the painting is nature in the eyes of humans, existing in interaction with humans.I don’t pursue a series of works with a fixed and continuous style. I hope that the style of the pictures will synchronize with the changes in my life and always remain oscillating. The performance of the work must be in sync with the development of one's own life in order to be Sincere and powerful. Ideas are later.

The content focuses on the figure with red hair. Its sideways posture and falling hair strands create a tranquil atmosphere. The collision between the gray - black rocks and blue - green water flow in the background adds environmental tension to the figure. The dynamic lines of the water flow contrast with the heavy texture of the rocks, highlighting the figure’s main position. In terms of composition, the figure is located slightly to the right of the center of the picture. The background elements extend from the side, guiding the line of sight to naturally focus on the figure. The irregular contours of the rocks complement the soft curves of the figure, constructing a balanced yet dynamic visual structure.
The color application is implicit and hierarchical. The warm orange tones of the red hair interweave with the cold gray and blue - green of the clothing and background. The color gradients in the hair strands (such as the transition from reddish - brown to light orange) enrich the visual levels, conveying emotions through the collision of cold and warm tones. The painting style leans towards a fusion of Impressionism and Expressionism. It uses loose yet expressive brushstrokes to shape the form. In the rock textures and the flutter of hair strands, the weight and direction of the brushstrokes enhance the texture. It not only retains the capture of light and shadow atmosphere in Impressionism but also conveys emotions through subjective colors, getting rid of the rigidity of realism.
The emotional expression is gentle and introspective. The figure’s drooping eyebrows and eyes, and soft facial lines convey a tranquil and contemplative mood. The setting off of natural elements in the background seems to integrate the figure with nature, triggering the viewers’ association with the “spiritual connection between humans and nature”. Similar artists can be associated with Pierre Bonnard. His creation of color atmosphere and handling of the integration of figures and environments have common ground with this painting. It can also be compared to Pierre - Auguste Renoir’s exploration in the lively use of colors and the transmission of figures’ emotions. With colors as words and brushstrokes as language, this painting embeds the figure’s emotions into the natural context, allowing viewers to perceive the tranquil power in the details and experience the unique charm of painting in integrating the emotions of individuals and environments.
A1: The figure’s reddish-brown hair stands out vividly against the cool gray background. The warm tones dominate over the cooler shades, immediately drawing the viewer’s eye to the flowing texture and luminous sheen of the hair.
A2: The gray backdrop not only highlights the subject’s gentle character, but also enhances the tension of the blue-green streaks of color, which appear like fractures of light. This contrast creates an atmosphere that feels both tranquil and mysterious.
A3: This work blends expressive brushwork with realistic detail, offering both the refined qualities of traditional portraiture and the experimental color language of modern painting. It is highly suitable for private art collections or exhibitions, adding depth to collections focused on figurative portrait oil paintings.
A4: The face is not painted in strict realism; instead, delicate, translucent brushstrokes suggest a subtle smile and lowered gaze, giving the expression a sense of gentle intimacy. This almost semi-transparent illusion invites the viewer to sense the subject’s inner restraint and quiet reflection.
A5: By merging the traditions of female portraiture with the aesthetics of lyrical painting, the work communicates emotional depth while also retaining formal experimentation. This duality makes it a unique piece for female-themed portrait collections and lyrical art collecting, enhancing both the value and display potential within these niche markets.
