This painting was created in 2019. This year is the third year of college. I started to prepare for my graduation work, so I tried paintings with more concepts, depth and formal unity. In these paintings, you Being able to begin to see a more specific me. Such attempts did add weight to the work, but it was only a small step compared to the depth that would later come with the weight of life. Then came the COVID-19 epidemic at the end of the year, and the future that people expected changed its face, either urgently or slowly.
Silence is not a human instinct. Only when words and sounds will cause greater fear and uneasiness, silence becomes a necessary coat in a dank place.

Creative themes and style | My works revolve around the creative concept of "The land of humanity, People on the land". The people in the painting are people in nature, and the lines, shapes, and colors are close to nature. The nature in the painting is nature in the eyes of humans, existing in interaction with humans.I don’t pursue a series of works with a fixed and continuous style. I hope that the style of the pictures will synchronize with the changes in my life and always remain oscillating. The performance of the work must be in sync with the development of one's own life in order to be Sincere and powerful. Ideas are later.

The content is rich and narrative - driven. A woman dressed in deep - red clothing sits cross - legged, her eyes lowered as she focuses on the object in her hands, with a sense of calm contemplation in her expression. Items beside her (such as the pink box, bottles, and jars) and the curtain - like object in the background together create an intimate and somewhat mysterious atmosphere. Fantasy elements like the red - glowing object on the left edge and the green object below add a surreal touch to the painting. In terms of composition, the figure is positioned at the center of the painting, and the surrounding items are distributed in a surrounding manner, forming a centripetal visual guide that draws the viewers’ attention to the figure and the situation.
The background is blurred, creating a contrast between the virtual and the real with the main subject, which not only highlights the subject but also enhances the spatial layers. The use of color is bold and full of tension. The warm tones dominated by deep red and dark purple collide with the gray - cold tones of the background, making the bright color of the clothing particularly striking against the dark background, creating a oppressive yet highly tension - filled atmosphere. The colors of items like bottles and jars, along with the bright accents of the fantasy elements, enrich the color layers of the painting.
The painting style is close to expressionism, using rough and expressive brushstrokes to outline the forms. Instead of pursuing precise replication of details, it focuses on conveying emotions and creating artistic conceptions through colors and brushstrokes, endowing the painting with strong subjective colors and artistic appeal. In terms of emotional expression, the woman’s demeanor and the surrounding environment jointly convey the complex emotions “before silence” — maybe contemplation, maybe tranquility — triggering the viewers’ associations and explorations of the figure’s inner world and the story behind the painting. One can think of Marc Chagall as a similar artist. He is used to incorporating surreal elements into real - life scenes, and by virtue of unique color combinations and composition methods, he creates a fantasy - filled and emotionally charged atmosphere to express inner emotions and the subconscious, which shares a similar artistic logic with this painting.
A1: The figure sits quietly with a restrained posture and downcast gaze, as if caught in a moment of reflection before “silence” arrives. Meanwhile, the distorted and burning-like surroundings suggest inner restlessness and energy on the verge of eruption, creating a tension of stillness on the outside, turbulence within.
A2: The color red conveys both passion and danger, while also producing a sense of pressure and unease. The flame shapes that appear in parts of the painting resemble the burning of memory or thought, symbolizing the hidden energy that rises before silence.
A3: These lines resemble creeping, spreading neural pathways, disrupting the stability of the space and reinforcing the psychological atmosphere. As a result, the background is transformed from a simple interior into a projection of the subject’s inner world.
A4: Unlike the calm restraint of realist portraiture, this painting combines realistic depiction of the figure with symbolic elements and a distorted background. It emphasizes narrative and emotional space, drawing the viewer into the subject’s psychological dimension rather than just the surface appearance.
A5: Because the piece merges real objects (the figure, a teacup, a bed) with unreal illusions (flames, branch-like forms, and a surging red background). This creates a scene that feels both familiar and strange, reflecting not external reality but the subconscious state of mind.
